Development of Ultra-Low Distortion DU with Tulu Diamond Vibration Plate


Diamond, with its excellent properties in terms of sound speed and hardness, is considered the most suitable material for vibration plates. Its outstanding flexural rigidity has significantly contributed to realizing the “Ultra-Low Distortion DU” targeted this time. Observed through laser displacement measurement, even hard metal vibration plates deform in various directions, causing distortion. In the case of diamond, its flexural rigidity minimizes deformation, suppressing noise generated on the surface of the vibration plate. Its outstanding flexural rigidity has significantly contributed to realizing the Ultra-Low Distortion DU targeted this time. In this product, we employ the “Tulu Diamond” method, which involves crystallizing diamond on silicon and then dissolving the silicon to create a diamond dome.

Diamond has a specific gravity of 3.5, about twice that of beryllium, which posed issues of rolling over due to weight in film-based edges. Additionally, general edge materials could not avoid the issue of resonance occurring at specific frequencies. To solve these, we adopted a special polyurethan. Traditional polyurethane had the drawback of easy degradation, but this material overcomes that weakness. It combines lightness with high elasticity and extensibility, solving the conflicting problems of ease of movement and prevention of unwanted resonance.

We developed a unique special forming technology that combines vacuum forming and hot forming with molds without using adhesives for bonding. This fundamentally solves various issues such as individual differences caused by the difference in coating amount of adhesives that occur between the vibration plate and edge.

To guide the vibration plate supported by a highly flexible edge to a smooth piston motion, we revised the design of the voice coil which is usually fixed with adhesives, adopting a bobbin-attached coil. This achieves high conductivity and prevents weight imbalance and bias due to the amount of adhesive applied.

Thanks to the development of the above-mentioned vibration plate materials and manufacturing technologies, the newly developed DU with a diamond vibration plate achieves an astonishing distortion rate below 1/100 of conventional models in the frequency range below 100Hz.

By reducing distortion in the ultra-low region and improving the characteristics of amplitude and frequency in the ultra-low region, unprecedented low-range reproducibility is achieved, while the transition to a splendid mid-high range with fine texture is also reduced. It reproduces vast musical information with overwhelming resolution, maintaining an astonishing sense of separation that can be felt in any range. Additionally, since no distortion is felt, the quietness of the silent parts of the music is vividly felt, and each note can be heard even more distinctly.


Stainless Steel Housing with Coated Juniper

The housing uses a precisely cut housing of high-rigidity stainless steel. It strongly supports the driver, and by suppressing unnecessary vibrations, the sound stage is designed to be clear. Furthermore, the housing features a precision cut wave pattern called “Coat de Juniper.” Not only an aesthetic element, the cut surface itself serves as the finishing dimension compared to polished finishing, reducing precision deviation, a refined technique often used in high-end watch internals.

Design for Long-Term Use and Easy Repair

By adopting a high-difficulty screw stopper design instead of using adhesives for assembling the housing and attaching the DU, long-term repairability is possible. Also, the tightening force of the screws strongly supports each component, suppressing unnecessary resonance.

Superior Fit with Minimal Contact Area

Whether the fit of earphones is superior or not is determined by the sense of pressure. The method of maintaining it with the rebound force of silicon, which seems correct at first glance, constantly puts pressure on the ears, unknowingly burdening them and accumulating fatigue. Compared to shapes that contact the ear with a large and organic surface, by limiting the contact area, we aimed for a fit without a sense of pressure. This way, it fits many people's ears. If there is no sense of pressure at all contact points, you will feel the fit of the earphones is so comfortable, like a custom-made earphone. Also, the housing size is smaller compared to A8000, making it easier to fit in the ear.

High-Precision In-House MMCX Connector with ePTFE Silver-Coated Cable

A collaboration product developed with the renowned Kyoei Sangyo, known for its cable development and manufacturing pursuing signal transmission speed for the supercomputer “Kyo.” For the wire material, we adopted a silver-coated OFC wire that Kyoei Sangyo has cultivated as the Junflon brand for many years, and for the insulating film, we adopted ePTFE (expanded Teflon™) boasting even lower dielectric constant than conventional PFA (fluoropolymer). All are specially designed for A10000.

The MMCX connector has been redesigned to be even higher precision than the reliable in-house developed products. 2PIN relies on the pin's own springiness for extraction force, structurally lacking durability, so MMCX is adopted for long-term reliability.

*The MMCX connector of this model is designed to be particularly difficult to insert and remove due to high precision. We do not recommend frequent insertion and removal of cables and terminals for purposes other than replacement due to failure.

Two types of earpieces, "FUSION-G" and "TYPE E", included

This product includes two types of earpieces, "FUSION-G" and "TYPE E", each in five sizes: SS/S/M/L/LL.


By combining three materials: ultra-dense foam, soft silicone, and high-elasticity silicone, the triple hybrid structure achieves high sound insulation and a comfortable fit without pressure.
The "ultra-dense foam" is designed to be thin, allowing for a fit without being crushed by fingers. This reduces the feeling of pressure and realizes high sound insulation. Additionally, since the same shape as the silicone type is adopted, there is less change in sound quality inclination, drawing out the original sound quality of the earphones you are using.


Adopts two types of silicone materials with different hardness for the sound conduit part and the part that touches the ear. The sound conduit part is made stronger and more flexible by applying a groove process on the silicone, which is harder than the part that touches the ear.
The part that touches the ear uses soft silicone, achieving a comfortable fit and high sound insulation. By coloring one side gray and the other red, it makes it easier to distinguish between left and right even in dim places.

Interchangeable dust filter

The dust filter part may get dirty depending on the ear canal, etc. With A10000, the dust filter is designed to be interchangeable by the customer, and a dust filter is included.

*The product is shipped with the dust filter already attached, so there is no need for the customer to attach it separately when opening the new product. After using it for a while, if the dust filter becomes dirty, please exchange it with the included dust filter by yourself. Please refer to the instruction manual for the exchange method.
